This was the first year I entered any photography competition and I decided to go big or go home. I entered a few images into the WPPI (Wedding and Portrait Photographers International) International Photography Competition. For weeks I was nervous, scared, second-guessing my choice of submissions, and wondered if I was good enough to go up against thousands of other photographers from around the world. Just as I was taught as a young child, I went at it with gusto. After all, the worst that would happen is a critique from an expert photographer on how to do it better next time. What a deal! So off went my submissions through the Internet. For weeks I secretly hesitated opening my email inbox and then it finally happened. Today. I got thee email. And to my surprise, one of my images scored high enough to earn an Accolade of Excellence! I'm so thankful for that score and more thankful for the two that are in the portrait.
Here is the winning image: “After 43 years, still so in love”
