I love fashion and I love my heritage, so when these two come together, it gets my heart racing. As you all know, I come from South Asian culture where women are supressed, often considered second class citizens, and are restricted from expressing themselves openly through fashion, art and dialogue. So when I came across Chanel's newest fashion collection helmed by Karl Lagerfeld, I just about fell off my chair. Mr. Lagerfeld has effortlessly combined the opulence and jewel adorned fashion of India with modern fashionista pieces for his latest collection. And to compliment the clothing, the fashion runway was designed to be just as opulent as a royal palace of a mogul emperor.
Since the movie “The Slumdog Millionaire” won best picure, there's been a resurgence of interest in Indian and South Asian culture and inspirations. This collection was titled, “Paris-Bombay” and with it's Indian inspired textiles and jeweled hair embellishments, there was no question you were going to be led on a royal journey as if traveling by elephant back. So for your next photo shoot with us, be bold and add some exotic embellishments or accessories representative of your international travels or from favorite places you have visited.
