Las Vegas SmugMug meet up with Celebrity & Fashion Photographer Matthew Jordan Smith

You may recall that I am one of the coordinators for the local Las Vegas SmugMug group where I help organize monthly meetups to educate fellow photographers.  Some events are purely lecture, some are interactive with networking events, and this month we had a 2-hour hands-on workshop with Celebrity & Fashion photographer Matthew Jordan Smith.  I was so honored Matthew accepted our invitation to speak and he had the whole crowd captivated.  This was a highly sought after event and at one point we had 40 people on the waiting list!  It was a packed house with Matthew teaching and demonstrating lighting techniques with gorgeous models Carrie and Stephanie.  Knowing we would be doing a fashion shoot, I enlisted the talent of local designer Jennifer Henry of FlockFlockFlock who hand-made the dresses out of clear cellophane and black tissue paper!  It was a wonderful, creative session and I can not thank Matthew, Carrie, Stephanie and Jennifer for all their help.

Here's Matthew front and center sharing his golden knowledge of lighting.

Matthew is a master at lighting and below he demonstrated using his favorite, 1-light setup utilizing the beauty dish.

And here's beautiful Carrie in the end result.

I’M  YASMIN

Portrait, Branding, Fitness & Studio PHOTOGRAPHER

Fueled by equal parts Earl Grey tea and passion, I spend my days capturing the kinds of images that make you stop, smile and ask time to please slow down. I believe in real moments and heartfelt conversations on the front porch. In the kinds of images that remind you of the joy that can be found in the simplest of moments together. I believe in images that are itching to be printed, placed in beautiful frames and hung on walls for years to come.
