It's always so much fun photographing South Asian events where we're hired and welcomed into the event like family members. And that was just the case with Varun and Erin's Sangeet in Las Vegas. I was first contacted by Varun's sister and mother whom I've photographed at many South Asian events over the years. When they decided to celebrate the Sangeet in Las Vegas, just prior to the wedding in Michigan, they knew I was the one to call. It was a fun-filled evening full of traditions, celebrating the Indian culture, ethnic clothing, mendhi (henna), great food and energetic performances.
Varun and Keri, I wish you the best as you celebrate your nuptials in Michigan. We had so much fun capturing this memorable evening with you and your families and look forward to seeing you at future events in Las Vegas.
The Revere Country Club overlooking the Las Vegas valley was the beautiful setting for the event.
After family and bride and groom portraits, Keri made her grand entrance.
Keri also had her mendhi (henna) applied at the reception. By morning time, the dark paste will have dried and fallen off, leaving a gorgeous deep red stain in that intricate design.
And it wouldn't be a South Asian event without lots of energetic dancing…hands and arms up for some bhangra!
